About
Hello, I am Robin Johnston-Jordan, CAFTP, FFCP, VSA-CDT. Prior to helping busy pet parents, I worked in education as a teacher and Special Education teaching assistant. I value patience and reliability. It is with great joy to carry these values and experience to the pets of busy and adventurous pet parents. So, I set out to become certified in dog training, cat behavior management, and pet sitting best practices.
My certification as an Advanced Feline Training Professional CAFTP means that I am knowledgeable and skilled in feline health, behavior, and management of behaviors. Cat parents I worked for have been rest assured that when they are traveling, their precious cats are in excellent care. With my certificate and experience as a cat mom I have a deep understanding of cats’ needs and body language and can care for kittens, elderly cats, special needs cats, and sensitive, a.k.a., spicy kitties.
As a Victoria Stilwell Academy certified dog trainer VSA-CDT, I am prepared not just to train dogs successfully using powerful force-free, positive reinforcement-based tools and techniques, but also to help dog parents to learn how to truly transform canine behavior and set their dogs up for success. My rescue Chi-mix is my great inspiration and teacher. When he arrived, he was nearly feral, ran from everything, and would not allow a harness to go near him. Now, he is a happy dog, comes instantly when called and joyfully runs along the trail with his big sister, Kozy, our yellow lab.
I am a member of the International Pet Sitters Association where I stay up to date on the most recent best practices for pet sitting and dog walking. As a dog walker I love nothing more than seeing the joy that dogs get when they walk and take in the wonderful smells and sights in their neighborhood.
As a trainer, I help cat and dog guardians to understand their canine’s, or feline’s needs and behaviors. With this understanding I guide pet parents to manage and modify undesirable behaviors, and train for alternative behaviors that meet both the guardian’s and pet’s needs.
During my spare time I volunteer at animal shelters where I help to socialize kittens and walk dogs, and I volunteer with my cat, Loretta, on pet therapy visits to our local senior center. I am a pet parent to four cats, two dogs and a Betta fish.
I have a lifetime of experience caring for dogs, cats, horses, fish, birds, and gardens. Waggy Walks Playful Purrs, LLC is an insured business through Pet Care Insurance.
